Canon Powershot SD770 IS Digital Camera
Product Report for the Canon Powershot SD770 IS Digital Camera
Price*: $223.00
Introduction: The Canon Powershot SD770 IS is an very compact point-and-shoot with a 3x zoom lens and a 10.0 megapixel CCD imager. This camera fits into the lower costs SD models within the 700 series. Yet the core of the SD770 is very versatile and modern. It includes DIGIC III processing and optical image stabilization. Though the SD770 gives up some of the higher-end models' more flashy features (face detection tools in playback for example), the benefits of upgraded processing – like improved speed all around, as well as Canon's nifty face tracking technology – are all here.

Overview:
The Canon SD770 IS Digital ELPH features a ten megapixel 1/2.3" CCD imager and a Canon-branded 3x optical zoom lens with image stabilization, which covers a fairly standard range of 35-105mm equivalent - a moderate wide angle to a moderate telephoto. Exposure is fully automatic, but the user can change it with 2.0EV of exposure compensation and four metering modes to handle difficult lighting, including a mode which ties metering to the camera's face detection system. Eleven scene modes makes the SD770 adaptable for beginners. A long-exposure mode in the Canon SD770 IS ELPH lets you set exposure times as long as 15 seconds manually, and a 2.5" LCD display plus an real-image optical zoom viewfinder - rather rare on digicams these days - caters for framing images. The SD770 derives its power from a new, proprietary NB-6L lithium-ion battery pack, and is rated at 300 shots per charge with the LCD on (CIPA method).
Customer Comments:
- Better then the G9 for jpgs. This sensor is updated and has excellent quality at iso 100, 200 and even 400. Better then the G9 shooting jpgs. Just shoot at the custom level with sharpness, satuation and contrast turned down and then fix it in photoshop if you want the best quality. Of course it doesn't have the manual features of the G9 but then I would use a small DSLR anyways. It Has a METAL body !! I don't know why some say it's plastic. Dennis H. Laska in North Tonawanda, New York
- Excellent Pocket Shooter. I bought this camera before a trip to Israel. I wanted something that I could easily fit into my pocket and wouldn't get in my way. I've been very impressed with this camera. The picture quality is respectable for a camera of this size/type and overall I'm happy with everything about the camera. I've taken hundreds of pictures and many videos without problems. Battery life has yet to be an issue and this camera has been really quick in taking pictures - once you press the shutter button if you see somebody is about to walk into your frame the camera is usually quick enough to catch the shot before the person has time to get in your way. The in camera features are plentiful and easy to navigate.
I wish this camera would switch to Auto High ISO automatically....sometimes it knows it's about to take a shaky picture and it will not turn up the ISO as high as I think it should. A noisy picture is better than a blurry one, in my opinion. Michael Berkowitz in California
- Great value for great pictures. pic quality is excellent, movies are just as good. discovered that there were 2 different time-lapse features for video as well... very cool to play around with. this camera has exceeded my expectations. A. Walker in Ferndale, MI
